When I was a kid, we brought home a puppy named Candy. He wasn’t just a pet — he grew up alongside me. He was there for every ordinary afternoon and every hard day, the kind of presence you stop noticing because it just feels like home.

Ten years went by like that. Then Candy got sick.

It turned out to be a problem with his pancreas — something we didn’t catch early, something we didn’t fully understand until it was already serious. We took him to the vet, we tried everything we could, but by the time we knew what was wrong, there wasn’t enough time left to fix it.

I remember feeling helpless in a very specific way. Not because we didn’t love him enough. Not because we didn’t try. But because we simply didn’t know — didn’t know the symptoms to watch for, didn’t know how urgently to act, didn’t have his health history organized in a way that could have helped a vet spot the pattern sooner. We lost Candy to a gap in knowledge, not a gap in love.

That loss stayed with me for years.

Somewhere in that grief, an idea took root: what if no pet parent ever had to feel that specific kind of helplessness again? Not because they didn’t care enough — but because they didn’t have the right information, at the right time, in one place.

Pawozo started as a promise to myself, and to Candy: that his story would mean something. That the knowledge we didn’t have back then would be available to every pet parent who came after — health records that don’t get lost, reminders that don’t get missed, an AI that can answer the questions you don’t even know to ask yet, and a community of people who’ve been where you are and can tell you what they wish they’d known sooner.

We built Pawozo so that no one has to lose a companion to something that could have been caught, understood, or acted on in time. So that love is never the missing piece — knowledge is never the missing piece either.

Every feature in Pawozo — the health records, the vaccination reminders, the AI assistant, the vet booking, even the memories timeline — comes back to one simple hope: that your pet gets to grow old with you. And when the time eventually comes, however far in the future, you’ll have not just the years, but every memory of them fully preserved, with nothing left unanswered and nothing left to wonder “what if we had known.”
